Hi,

My name is Shan Eccles.

I am retired after working in the Fire Service and 25 years in Social Services, looking after the elderly.

I discovered an obsession with painting during lockdown. I saw a picture on TV that I really liked- it was so unusual, I took a photo of it on my mobile and decided to try and paint it. I’ve never painted before, but this started me off on a totally new hobby. I literally can’t stop now!

My main love is geometric abstract, but I have started doing flowers and animals which have been popular. Each and every painting I do is totally unique. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than people enjoying them enough to put them in their homes. I like to think they are affordable to everyone.

I am still in a daze that this is happening to me, and I am eternally grateful to David from David Rogers Jones Auctions for his help and support. He has recently taken two of my pictures to his distinguished sale in Cardiff, and also to John Mitchell for his faith in me  and for putting my name forward for this exhibition. Also my poor husband who now has a wife who is always in paint-covered clothes and he can’t get in the spare room for picture frames.
